-Keith Jarrett-

The Koln Concert

(1975)

This recording is over 20 years old but is as fresh as Spring. In fact this is a great disc to spin on a nice spring or summer day. If you don't already know, Jarrett sometimes plays these solo improvisational concerts that usually contain just a few parts lasting anywhere between 5 and 40 minutes. His lyrical, fluid like style combines with emotional and excellent technique to create a unique listening experience. Each part is stirring in it's own way ranging from a gentle breeze to deep darkness. This disc has been praised many times over as a classic, and rightly so. If you dig it, other notable solo works include: his latest, "La Scala", the "Vienna Concert", and I also like "The Paris Concert" and the collection, "Concerts". As far as Jarrett's work with others, that's a whole web-site in itself.

Disclaimer: I try to listen to as much music as possible. I also attempt to remain open to any style (although I have my natural tastes) . All kinds of music can offer all kinds of things to all kinds of people. The purpose of listing recordings here is simply to share some things I like. To be true, there is infinitely too much to list everything.

What have you been listening to?
